A 26-year-old woman riding pillion died after falling off her husband's motorbike as the loose end of her burqa got tangled with the wheel in Chandpur Sadar upazila.
The accident occurred at Chandra Chowrasta on Friday, when Asma Akhter, her husband Sabuj Bhuiyan and their 5-year-old son were on their way to her parents' house in Algibazar.
OC Abdur Rashid of Chandpur Sadar police station said that Asma's burqa got tangled with the rear wheel of the speeding bike and she fell off and suffered severe head injuries.
She was taken to Chandpur Government General Hospital in critical condition. As her condition deteriorated, she was soon shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where she succumbed to her injuries later that afternoon.
Her relatives brought back the body to Laxipur in Chandpur Sadar upazila from Dhaka on Friday evening, the OC added.
