The bullet-riddled body of a man was found on the roof of his house at Patnitala Upazila in Naogaon on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Yakub Ali, 55. He hailed from Cheradanga village in the upazila.
Patnitala police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alam said Yakub used to live with his family and relatives in the village.
“Being wealthy, he had his own licensed gun for security. In the morning, Yakub reportedly shot himself in the head with the gun on the roof of the house. At that moment, his wife Morzina heard gunshots and went there, only to see Yakub’s dead body.”
Upon receiving information on the tragedy, police recovered the body from the spot and seized the gun. Meanwhile, the body has been sent to Naogaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
OC Alam said that an unnatural death case may be filed on behalf of the family.
