The depression over north Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm by Monday midnight and move in a north/northeasterly direction.

It was centered about 1,120 kilometers south of Chittagong port, 930 kilometers south of Cox's Bazar port, 1,115 kilometers south-southeast of Mongla port and 1,040 kilometers south-southeast of Payra port at 6pm on Monday.

The deep depression’s centre is experiencing a maximum sustained wind speed of 50km/hr which is rising to 60km/hr with gusts or squalls, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its evening bulletin.

Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre, it added.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary Signal No 1.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
