Police have arrested a garment worker for raping a teenager in Fatullah of Narayanganj.
Accused Md Khalilur Rahman, 21, was arrested from the Muslimnagar Orphanage Road area on Saturday.
The incident took place on Friday and the victim’s grandmother filed a case against Khalilur with Fatullah Model police station.
According to the case, the rape survivor lived with her grandparents in a rented building on the same road.
Khalilur had good relations with the victim's family as he also lives in the same building.
Around 2pm on Friday, the teenager's grandfather was at work and her grandmother went out of the house to pick vegetables.
Later, the accused forcibly took the girl to his room covering her mouth and raped her by threatening to stab her with a knife.
When the girl went home and informed her grandmother about the matter, she lodged the complaint with the police station.
Officer-in-Charge Md Rakibuzzaman said they were interrogating the accused.
“The victim has been sent to hospital for medical examination,” he added.
