Police have arrested three leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Comilla for assaulting the principal of Redwan Ahmed College.
Principal Md Monirul Islam Bhuiyan told Dhaka Tribune that some local BCL men had beaten up a student of the college on Tuesday over a trifling matter.
The gang again attacked the boy on Wednesday. When the principal intervened and tried to save the student, the gang led by BCL activists Robi, Raba and Jamil hurled abuses and beat him up.
He later filed a complaint with the local police station, following which, police arrested the trio.
The principal was admitted to Chandina Upazila Health Complex for primary medical care.
Rakib Hasan, sub-inspector at Chandina police station, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune. He said that they were investigating the incident.
