Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his nieces by slitting their throats in Mymensingh’s Ishwarganj upazila.
The incident was reported from the upazila’s Kadirpur village at around 11pm on Monday, said Ishwarganj Police OC Abdul Kader.
The arrestee has been identified as Mahbub, 35, who police say is mentally challenged and a drug addict.
According to police, cousins Tripti and Sayma, aged around four, went to visit their maternal grandparents’ house a few days ago.
On Monday, their uncle Mahbub called them into a room and slit their throats.
Locals rushed to the scene after hearing the girls scream and reported the matter to police.
“We have recovered the bodies from the scene,” said OC Kader.
