Protests broke out in Rangpur city demanding the return of Awami League leader and former UP Chairman Sadek Ali, who has been missing for the last eight days.
Ruling party leaders and Sadek Ali’s family members demonstrated in front of the Rangpur Press Club on Monday.
They also marched to the deputy commissioner’s office, warning of further protests if Sadek is not returned within 72 hours.
Sadek Ali, an advisor to the ruling Awami League’s Rangpur metro unit, went missing on February 21.
Party leaders and activists claim that he was last seen at the Central Shaheed Minar where he went to pay his respects on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.
They said that while a general diary has been filed with the police, they are yet to make any headway into the matter.
