Police have arrested three men in a case filed over the murders of two security guards at a Bscic factory in Bogra.
The arrestees were identified as truck driver Hossain Bin Mollat alias Ninja, 34, from Shajahanpur upazila, helper Rahat Pramanik, 21, and Sumon Bepari, 27, from Sadar upazila, Superintendent of Police Sudip Kumar Chakraborty confirmed during a press briefing on Sunday afternoon.
He said: “With the help of technology, we confirmed the location of accused Sumon. Later, a team of the police arrested him from Gazipur on Saturday.”
According to police, Rahat and Ninja were arrested from different places in Bogra on the basis of the information gleaned from Sumon.
During preliminary interrogation, all three of the arrestees pleaded guilty to committing the crime, Sudip added.
Quoting the accused, the police official said they carried out the killings in a planned manner out of fear that the guards would leak information about them illegally profiting from the goods at the factory.
Police recovered a metal rod used to commit the murders, a mobile phone of the deceased, and a mobile phone of the accused.
Sudip said two other people involved in the murder have been identified.

“Their names will not be released right now for the sake of the investigation. An operation is underway to arrest them,” he added.
The deceased are Abdul Hannan, 45, and Samsul Haque 60, night guards of Messrs Masud & Sons Industries Ltd.
Their bodies were found in a manhole of the Bscic industrial estate on Friday afternoon.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Hannan's wife Hira Begum filed a murder case against unidentified persons with the sadar police station.
The murder case was then handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police for further investigation.
In the afternoon, Wadud Ali, investigating officer of DB police, said a plea has been submitted to the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Shahriar Tareq to record the confessionnal statement of Rahat and Sumon under Section 164 and to remand Ninja for seven days.
