Three killed in Ashulia footwear factory fire

The fire left 40 others injured

At least three people, including two women, were burnt to death after a massive fire broke out at a footwear factory in Ashulia of Savar on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire left 40 others injured while the identities of the deceased could not be known yet, said Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge Kamruzzaman.

Firefighters recovered the bodies from the spot while the injured have been sent to hospital.

Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, confirmed the matter.

According to the Fire Service, the fire broke out at Uniworld Footwear factory beside Rupayan Mart building in Jamgara area around 5.16pm.

On information, six fire fighting units rushed to the spot.

Later, four more units joined the extinguishing work.
