A fire broke out at the Abdul Halim Railway Bridge on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet railway lines on Friday night.
Upon receiving information, a team of Ashuganj Fire Service brought the blaze under control after about half an hour, reports Bangla Tribune.
However, there was no interruption in the movement of the trains.
According to sources, the fire broke out at pillar no 4 in the middle of the bridge around 8:15pm.
The Titas commuter train heading from Dhaka to Akhaura went over the bridge 10 minutes after the incident.
However, the cause of the fire could not be known immediately, said Makbul Hossain, in-charge of Bhairab Naval Fire Station.
Emergency service lines of various service providers, including electricity and telephone, have been provided on the other side of the river across the bridge.
