The district administration has closed two private hospitals in Faridpur after a mobile court found massive irregularities during a drive.

Arambagh Hospital and New Life General Hospital and Diagnostic Centre were asked to stop operations by Friday noon.

The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Imam Rajib on Thursday night.

The hospitals were carrying out operation without license and in violation of government ordinance.

Faridpur Additional Superintendent of Police Sumon Ranjan Sarkar, Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Fatema Begum were present during the raid.

According to the notification signed by Fatema Begum, all activities of the two hospitals will remain closed till further instructions under the Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories Control Ordinance, 1982.

Faridpur Civil Surgeon Siddiqur Rahman said: “New Life Hospital was operating without a license. On the other hand, Arambagh Hospital does not have the required number of doctors and nurses.”

The hospital authorities were given time till Friday considering the sufferings of the patients admitted there, he added.
