Nuruzzaman Bhuiyan Mukul, chairman candidate of Vani Union Parishad polls, died on the night before the election in Debidwar upazila of Comilla.
He passed away at 9pm on Sunday after suffering a heart attack, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debidwar police station Arifur Rahman confirmed.
According to local sources, he is the Awami League president and former outgoing chairman of Vani union of the upazila.
Debidwar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ashiq Un Nabi Talukder said: "We have received the news of chairman candidate Nuruzzaman Bhuiyan Mukul’s death. The election will be postponed when we receive his death certificate.”
