The first phase of upgrades to turn Cox's Bazar Airport into an international airport are set to be completed by June 2023, Parliamentary Committee on Estimates Chairman Abdus Shahid said on Friday.
“Once the upgrading is done, Cox’s Bazar will change for the better,” he said during a visit to the airport to inspect the progress of the upgrades.
The parliamentary committee expressed satisfaction with the progress after the inspection.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman said both day and night flights will start at Cox's Bazar Airport from next February.
Other members of the committee, including Saimum Sarwar Kamal, and officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism were also present.
