Elderly persons among 3 killed in accidents in Chittagong

They were declared dead at CMCH, say police

Two people were killed in separate road accidents while another was killed by a train in Chittagong’s Sitakunda Upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Latif Badhan, 65, and Abdul Matin Badol, 55, of Bhatiari Union; and Mohammad Maruf, 18, of Brahmanbaria.

They all were brought to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) separately where duty-doctors declared them dead on arrival, said Ala Uddin Talukder, in-charge of the hospital police outpost.

Abdul Latif was critically injured when he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road in Bhatiari around 11am. 

On the other hand, Maruf sustained injuries when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Abdullahghata area around 1:30pm.

Meanwhile, Abdul Matin was crushed under the wheels of a train in College Para area of Bhatiari while he was walking on the rail tracks, leaving him injured.  

The bodies were kept at CMCH morgue for autopsies.
