Some unidentified people have cut off and taken away all four limbs and the head of a cow belonging to a farmer who supported an Awami League candidate contesting the recently held Union Parishad polls at Kalapara in Patuakhali.
The farmer, Monirul Islam of west Rajapara village under Tiakhali Union, alleged that independent candidate Sujon Molla came out victorious, and his supporters had been giving him life threats since then.
On Saturday night, a group of miscreants came to his house and went into his farm-shed. They killed one of his cows and then started cutting off its limbs one by one. “Malek Khan, Mizan, Raihan and their cohorts called me by my name to come out of the house. When I did not respond to their calls, they killed my animal,” the farmer said.
Defeated candidate and former UP chairman Moshiur Rahman Shimu said that the farmer had campaigned for him in the elections.
Officer-in-Charge of Kalapara police station, Jashim, told Dhaka Tribune that police inspected the scene after the farmer had filed a case in this regard.
The law enforcers would take necessary steps and arrest the culprits, the OC said.
