A man has been on the run after raping his 10-year-old granddaughter in Comilla's Barura upazila.
The incident took place in Muguji area under Khoshbas South union on Friday .
According to Sufia Begum, the girl’s grandmother, after getting an empty house, Rahim, 35, called the girl, who is his granddaughter, and raped her.
“He left the girl when she was bleeding and fled the area,” she added.
The girl's aunt Parul Akhter later took her to Baruda Health Complex and the doctor on duty transferred her to Comilla Medical College Hospital. “I am now preparing to file a case with the police,” Sufia said.
Union Parishad Chairman Abdur Rob said: “Rahim's wife and children came to me to settle the matter. They offered to arrange a piece of land for the girl's family but the incident must not be made public.”
Barura police station Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Bahar Majumder said that he was aware of the incident.
Action would be taken upon receiving a written complaint in this regard, he added.
