At least 11 people, including women, were injured in an attack reportedly led by a defeated member candidate after the Union Parishad (UP) election result was announced in Chamrul union of Bogra’s Dhupchanchia upazila on Friday.

Elected member Mir Abdur Rahim rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to the Upazila Health Complex.

Abdur Rahim said he learned that the defeated member candidate Mokhlesar Rahman Babu and his supporters had attacked his supporters on Friday afternoon.

He alleged that his niece's house was also attacked at the time. “I will take legal action against Mokhlesar and others responsible for the attack.”

Hasan Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dupchanchia police station, said he is aware of the incident. “If a case is filed, legal action will be taken subject to investigation.”

Meanwhile, locals have demanded that a magistrate be punished in connection with the deaths of four people. The four were reportedly killed by BGB personnel during polls clashes at Baliadighi union under Gabtoli upazila of Bogra on Wednesday evening.
