Woman hospitalized after parasailing accident in Cox’s Bazar

The 26-year-old severely injured her both legs while landing

A female tourist has sustained severe leg injuries while landing after parasailing in Cox’s Bazar.

The injured is Tinni Akter, 26, a resident of Dhaka’s Khilkhet area.

The accident took place at Darianagar Point on the side of Marine Drive at around 6:30pm on Thursday.

Tinni’s husband Tariqul Huq said his wife had fallen down while landing after parasailing, seriously injuring both her legs.

She was taken to the operating room of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, Tariqul added.

Meanwhile, Parvej, a local resident, told UNB that the operator of the parasailing service owned by trader Farid Alam took the woman on a ride at 6pm violating the rules.

The accident occurred due to darkness, he said.

The district administration was looking into the matter, UNB quoted Executive Magistrate (tourism cell) Sayed Murad Islam as saying.

Actions would be taken against the owner and the operator if found guilty of breaking rules, he added.
