Truck-motorcycle collision leaves 2 dead in Mymensingh

The accident took place when a motorcycle and truck collided head-on

Two people died on Friday when a truck and motorcycle were involved in a head-on collision in Mymensingh’s Nandail upazila.

The deceased are Sajib Mia, 32, and Abdus Sobhan, 35, of Birishiri area under Durgapur upazila of Netrokona district, confirmed Nandail Highway police OC Masud Khan.

The incident took place at the Chamta bus stop at 10am in Nandail, when a set of six friends were travelling in motorcycles to Kishoreganj’s haor. At one point, a truck heading from the opposite direction ran them over, killing Sajib Mia on the spot. Sobhan, who was injured in the incident, was declared dead on arrival when taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

OC Masud Khan said that the truck has been seized but the driver is on the run.

Sajib’s body has been kept at Nandail Highway police station while Abdus Sobhan’s body has been kept at the hospital’s morgue.

Legal action would be taken after investigation, he said.
