A Chittagong court has accepted the charge sheet, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), against former Teknaf police OC Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife in a graft case.
Chittagong Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman accepted the charge sheet on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the court rejected the bail petition filed by OC Pradeep and also issued an arrest warrant against his wife Chumki Karon as she remained absconding since Pradeep’s arrest in the Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case.
Pradeep was reached Chittagong court from Cox's Bazar at 12:50pm under heavy police guard, reports a correspondent from Chittagong quoting ACC lawyer Mahmudul Haque.
In the charge sheet filed with the same court on July 27, ACC Assistant Director Md Riaz Uddin charged Pradeep and Chumki with amassing assets worth more than Tk4 crore.
Their bank accounts were seized last year upon instruction of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit soon after the murder of retired army major Sinha.
