Police have arrested a man on charges of sexually assaulting his niece and raping her friend in Narayanganj's Sadar upazila.
Delwar Hossain, 30, was arrested from the district’s Hajiganj area following a case filed by one of the survivors on Sunday, confirmed Fatullah Model police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Emanur Hossain.
According to the police and locals, Delwar and his wife live in a two-bedroom flat.
One of the rooms was rented by his niece and her friend, who work in a nearby garment factory.
On Friday, Delwar's wife went to her village home after a fight with her husband.
Later that night, when the two teenagers returned home from work, they had dinner prepared by Delwar, who had previously put sleeping pills in the food.
Then at one point Delwar sexually assaulted his niece and raped her friend.
"Delwar was arrested following a raid. He has confessed to his crimes during interrogation. The survivors have been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for medical examination," the SI added.
