Met Office forecasts heavy falls in country's northern region

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country

The Met Office on Tuesday forecasted heavy falls in some northern parts and light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the northern part of the country, it said.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 35.5°C in Mongla and the minimum temperature on Tuesday is 24.2°C in Dhaka.

Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday was recorded 84 millimeters (mm) in Sylhet.

The sun will set at 6:24pm on Tuesday and will rise at 5:38am on Wednesday in Dhaka.
