Twelve more people died at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours till 6am on Friday.
"Among the deceased, six tested positives for Covid-19 while the remaining others had symptoms of the virus," said RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani.
Of the deceased, five were from Rajshahi, two each from Chapainawabganj and Natore and one each from Naogaon, Meherpur, and Pabna, he added.
Twenty more patients were admitted to the designated Covid wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of patients to 236, including 127 who tested positive, against 513 beds.
Another 19 patients are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Thirty-one other patients returned home from the Covid-19 unit after being cured during the same time.
Yazdani said the infection rate has escalated in Rajshahi to some extent compared to the previous day.
A total of 70 people have been detected positive for Covid-19 after testing 276 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Thursday, showing a 25.36% positivity rate against 15.03% on Wednesday.
