A group of miscreants on Tuesday attacked a local journalist who was under treatment at the Chuadanga sadar Hospital.
The same group also previously attacked and injured Sohail Rana, a local journalist, with sharp weapons in Chuadanga town’s Emergency Road area at around 9:30pm on Monday..
Following the incident, police arrested Raju Ahmed, a local Chhatra League activist, confirmed Chuadanga Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Jahangir Alam.
“Police are trying to arrest others involved in the incident,” added the police official.
Injured Sohail is a staff reporter of the local daily “Somoyer Somikoron” and the local correspondent of the national daily “Amader Notun Shomoy”.
According to police sources, Sohail was going to the local daily’s office by his motorbike at around 8:30pm.
As he reached the Abdullah City Complex on Emergency Road, he had a collision with the motorcycle of Raju Ahmed. Two others were with Raju on the bike.
An argument broke out between the two parties and at one stage, Sohail was attacked with sharp weapons.
Subsequently, while being treated at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital’s emergency department, Raju and his men carried out the second attack.
Physician of the emergency department, Dr Shakil Salan, said Sohail had stab wounds on his back, arms, abdomen and chest.
“Following first aid, he has been put under observation in the surgery ward of the hospital,” the doctor added.
