Rasel Islam, a teenager from Thakurgaon, has sealed his name on the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records for setting new world records of most skips in 30 seconds and one minute on one foot.
Rasel achieved the feat by skipping 145 times in 30 seconds, breaking the previous world record if 144 skips. The 18-year old skipped 258 times in a minute. This is also a new world record.
He received the official recognition certificates on July 29.
Rasel was inspired to attempt this challenge by the record-breaking feats of compatriot Konok Karmakar, who has achieved Guinness World Records titles including the most consecutive catches of a spinning basketball and most football bounces with the knee in one minute.
Rasen has been skipping since childhood and spent the last six months practising for this record. He says becoming a Guinness World Records title holder is a dream come true. He hopes to one day achieve a total of 10 records to represent his country of Bangladesh.
