Detectives have found that two friends in Gaibandha were suffocated for protesting against an extramarital affair, but the killers hung their bodies from a tree to make it seem like suicide.
Suman Chandra Das, 23, and Mrinal Chandra Das, 24, were killed on August 11, according to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
PBI Gaibandha Superintendent of Police ARM Alif briefed reporters on the matter on Sunday.
A case was filed with Gaibandha Sadar police station accusing two people in this connection. One of the accused, Pradip Chandra Das, has been arrested. He has already given a confessional statement to a magistrate.

The other accused, Nitai Chandra Das, is still on the run.
Quoting Pradip, SP Alif said: “Nitai became involved in an extramarital affair with a family member of Suman. When the matter came to light, Suman along with his friend Mrinal tried to put a stop to it. The two had an altercation with Nitai over the matter.
“On August 11, Nitai and some others, including Pradip, made a plan to kill Suman. They called Suman and Mrinal to a secluded place, strangled them to death and hung the bodies from a tree to make it appear as suicide.”
Police were trying to apprehend Nitai and others involved in the double murder, the SP added.
