Seven people, including children, have been killed after a microbus crashed into a roadside ditch in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.
The incident was reported from Chakaria upazila’s Bhendibazar around 10.30am, say police.
“A microbus veered out of control and fell into a ditch. Five people died at the scene and two more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital,” said Chakaria police OC Shaker Mohammad Jobair.
Locals rescued the victims from the deep water in the ditch and took them to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, he added.
The deceased have been identified as Hajera Begum, 55, of Fanshiakhali area of Chakaria upazila, Purnima, 30 and her son Sarthak, 2, Ratan Vijay, 55, of Dulahazara area and his wife Madhumita, 45.
The identities of the two other dead victims are yet to be confirmed.
