Rangpur division recorded nine more deaths caused by Covid in the 24 hours to 8am on Friday.
Of them, four died in Rangpur district, three in Thakurgaon and one each in Lalmonirhat and Dinajpur.
As many as 1,559 samples were tested in the 24 hours, 291 of which turned out to be positive for Covid.
The infection rate stood at 18.87%, a slight drop from Thursday’s 21.13%.
The spread of coronavirus has reached alarming levels in the division, especially in Dinajpur, Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram districts, Rangpur Divisional Health Office said.
No fewer than 237,637 samples have been tested in Rangpur division to date. Of these, 50,117 came out Covid positive.
Some 40,723 people have recovered from the disease so far.
