Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a madrasa teacher in a case filed for raping a woman on the pretext of a false promise of marriage in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf.
Nurul Mostafa was arrested from Teknaf’s Hila union, RAB-15 camp in-charge Lieutenant Commander Mahbub Rahman Chowdhury confirmed on Thursday.
Apart from having sexual intercourse on false promise of marriage, Mostafa is also accused of torturing her.
Meanwhile, the girl also protested in front of Mostafa’s house “seeking the status of his wife” and there had been local arbitrations to resolve the matter.
Her mother later filed a complaint with the elite police unit.
According to locals, Mostafa and his family, who are influential in the area, had been trying to suppress the matter. They tortured the girl again when she protested on August 3.
