The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man in a case filed over the rape of a six-year-old girl in Pirgacha upazila, Rangpur.
Prime accused Tushar Imran was arrested from Gaibandha within 48 hours after the case was filed, RAB 13 Commander Reza Ahammad Ferdous told a press briefing on Wednesday.
According to RAB, on July 28, Tushar called the child to his house saying he would let her listen to music on his phone and raped her.
As a result, the girl lost consciousness at one point due to excessive bleeding. She was later rescued and admitted to Kaunia Upazila Health Complex, said the RAB official.
The child was later sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Rangpur Medical College Hospital when her condition deteriorated.
Her father filed the rape case at the Pirgacha police station on August 8, even though the accused and his family tried to cover up the incident.
Upon being informed, RAB also started investigating and managed to arrest Tushar within 48 hours from a village in Gaibandha Sadar, said Commander Ferdous.
He added that Tushar will be handed over to Pirgacha police for prosecution following protocol.
