A woman has succumbed to death after she was raped and set on fire by her former in-laws on Saturday at Raipura upazila in Narsingdi.
Parveen Akhter, 27, died in the early hours of Monday while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS), with 75-80% burns.
The victim's brother confirmed her death.
According to police and relatives of the victim, she had been married to an expatriate named Zakir Hossain from Morjal area. The couple has a 10-year-old daughter.
Since Zakir lived abroad, she had recurring conflicts with his family and was repeatedly subjected to torture by them.
Last year, Zakir's brother Ali Hossain even stabbed Parveen on her leg at one point, following which Parveen filed a case.

On Saturday, Rahima Khatun, wife of one of her brothers-in-law, called Parveen Akhter and said they would take her to get vaccinated that day.
Parveen was taken to an empty place in Lochonpur on a CNG and tied up before she was raped by Ali Hossain and set on fire.
On hearing her screams, locals rescued her and took her to the upazila health complex. As her condition deteriorated, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
On Sunday, the victim's younger brother filed a case under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act.
Police later arrested Ali Hossain, 32, and nephew Md Shahriar, 18.
