Barisal division recorded 28 more Covid-19-related deaths in the 24 hours between Thursday and Friday mornings.
Of them, 14 were confirmed Covid-19 patients and the other 14 were showing symptoms of the deadly disease -- which has so far killed 528 people in the division, according to Dr Basudeb Kumar Das, the divisional health director.
Between Thursday and Friday mornings, 624 new Covid-19 cases were also recorded in the six districts under the division, taking the total number of cases to 37,622.
Of the total number of patients, however, 20,489 people have recovered.

Dr Das said of the 14 latest deceased, five were from Barisal, four each from Patuakhali and Bhola and one from Jhalakathi district.
He said 14 of the deceased who were showing symptoms of Covid-19 had passed away in the isolation ward of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH).
SBMCH sources said 845 patients with symptoms have so far died in the hospital’s isolation ward and 336 confirmed patients in the corona ward.
Currently, the hospital is treating 280 people in both wards.
