The health authorities have suspended Sajeda Afrin, an assistant health inspector at Delduar Upazila Health Complex in Tangail, for pushing the needles of syringes without injecting the Covid-19 vaccine.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued the suspension order on Tuesday afternoon, the district’s Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Fazal Md Shahabuddin Khan confirmed in the evening after receiving it.
He said that the decision came after a three-member committee looked into the matter and submitted its report on Monday.
Shahabuddin said he wrote to the DGHS seeking departmental action against Sajeda after she admitted to her faults to the investigators.
He added that the health authorities will take further action against her following protocols.

“Those who did not receive the vaccine are being identified and given the doses now. Several of them have already received their shots,” assured the civil surgeon.
Last Sunday, Sajeda Afrin was stationed at booth No 2 at the Delduar Upazila Health Complex vaccinating people.
However, some of the receivers noticed that even though she had pushed the needles, she did not inject the vaccine doses.
After receiving a complaint from one of the recipients, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Md Shamim examined the discarded syringes and found about 20 syringes with vaccines inside them.
