ACC sub-inspector commits suicide in Sylhet

Police recovered the body of an Anti-Corruption Commission official from ACC barrack in the city’s Bagbari area on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Layez Uddin, 53, hailing from Kapasia, Gazipur. Gausul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, Sylhet Metropolitan police, said on information, they rushed to the scene and recovered the body of Layez, an ACC sub-inspector, which was found hanged. It is apparently a suicide, added the police official. The body was sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. “We recovered a suicide note in his possession in which Layez mentioned the reason behind his death. Sylhet ACC official Komor Uddin’s name was written in the note,” the OC said.  The investigation is underway and a case will be filed in this connection, added Gausul. Layez leaves behind his wife, one son and two daughters. He used to live alone in Sylhet.
