The Covid-19 situation is worsening in the Mymensingh district by the day.
Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) recorded 23 new Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day toll at the hospital.
Of them, seven had tested positive for Covid-19, while the remaining showed symptoms of the virus, said Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, a spokesperson of the Covid unit on Monday.

Of the deceased, 15 people hailed from Mymensingh, three each from Netrakona and Jamalpur, and two from Gazipur.
Meanwhile, 535 patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital’s Covid unit, of whom 25 are in the intensive care unit, said the officials.
As many as 1,617 samples were screened at the hospital’s PCR lab during the same time 495 new cases were identified, said Civil Surgeon Mohammad Nazrul Islam.
