The central liquid oxygen plant at Pabna General Hospital, which was built almost one week ago, is yet to become operational due to a lack of liquid oxygen supply, hospital officials have said.
Pabna General Hospital Administrative Officer Ruhul Hossain on Monday said oxygen is currently being supplied to the hospital every day in 100 small cylinders and 24-36 large cylinders.
He expressed concern that there may be an oxygen supply crisis at the hospital during the Eid holidays if liquid oxygen supply is not restored.
Civil Surgeon Dr Monisor Chowdhury said senior officials had already been alerted and asked to ensure that there is no shortage of liquid oxygen during the holidays.

Ruhul Hossain said the number of new patients is increasing every day as the Covid-19 situation is getting worse.
Over the preceding 24 hours, 119 patients were admitted to the Covid-19 unit of the hospital, while two more patients died, he added.
He further said as many as 32 patients had died at the Covid-19 unit in July, so far.
