Rangpur division recorded 29.52% Covid-19 positivity rate as 111 new cases were reported on Wednesday after testing 376 samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories in the division.
“The daily positivity rate continues to remain mostly above the 30% mark in recent weeks in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 29.89% on Tuesday, 31.84% on Monday, 31.44% on Sunday, 34.84% on Saturday, 32.14% on Friday and 31.39% on Thursday.
Among the 111 new patients diagnosed, 60 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC).

“The 60 new patients include 42 from Rangpur, five each from Kurigram and Lalmonirhat and eight from Gaibandha districts,” RpMC Principal Prof AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.
On the other hand, 51 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur on Wednesday.
“The 51 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 30 from Dinajpur, six from Panchagarh, 10 from Thakurgaon and five from Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.
Acting divisional director (health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 34,633 as 111 new positive cases were reported across the division.
“The district-wise break up of total 34,633 patients now stands at 7,580 Rangpur, 1,754 Panchagarh, 2,571 in Nilphamari, 1,896 in Lalmonirhat, 2,463 in Kurigram, 4,868 in Thakurgaon, 10,655 in Dinajpur and 2,846 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
