One of six Chittagong cylinder blast victims dies at DMCH

The six had suffered burns in a fire triggered by the blast of a cooking gas cylinder in their Satkania home Thursday night

One of the six victims who suffered serious burn injuries in a fire incident in Chittagong’s Satkania upazila died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Md Helal Uddin, 36, son of Abdus Shukur of the upazila’s Charpara.

Helal and his five family members had suffered burn injuries in the fire triggered by a cooking gas cylinder blast in their home in Satkania on Thursday night.

The other victims were identified as Sayed Ahmed, 65, Shahnewaz, 40, Khaleda Begum, 45, Abdus Shukkur, 36, and Delwar Hossain, 50.

The injured were first taken to Satkania Upazila Health Complex. Later, four of them were shifted to the burn unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital after their conditions deteriorated.

On Friday, three of the victims were moved to the burn unit of DMCH. Helal succumbed to his injuries around 9:45am Sunday, said Satkania municipal panel mayor Saiful Alam Sohel.
