A total of 772 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the 10 districts of Khulna division in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the number of infected patients in the division to 69,952.
With 46 more fatalities reported on the day, the total death toll from the deadly disease reached 1,533, said Dr Rasheda Sultana, divisional director of Health.
Among the 46 fatalities, reported from six districts in the division, 18 were in Kushtia, 10 each in Khulna and Jessore, four in Jhenaidah, and two each in Narail and Meherpur districts.
The number of new infections decreased from the previous day, while the daily death toll rose.

On Thursday, the division shattered the previous records in terms of deaths, with 71 new fatalities.
The district-wise breakdown of the deaths now stands at 402 in Khulna, followed by 328 in Kushtia, 212 in Jessore, 132 in Jhenaidah, 115 in Chuadanga, 98 in Bagerhat, 76 in Satkhira, 75 in Meherpur, 60 in Narail and 35 in Magura.
"Among the infected people, 45,252 have, so far, recovered from the lethal virus with 525 new recoveries reported this morning," said Dr Rasheda, adding that a total of 9,326 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals in the division.
A total 60,376 have been kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Among them, 46,370 have been released.
On the other hand, 174 people were sent into home and institutional quarantine, while 174 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8am Saturday.
The total number of Covid-19 patients now stands at 18,355 in Khulna, 15,164 in Jessore, 10,059 in Kushtia, 5,513 in Jhenaidah, 4,421 in Bagerhat, 4,406 in Chuadanga, 4,223 in Satkhira, 3,342 in Narail, 2,472 in Meherpur and 2,004 in Magura in the division.
