Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed has been reappointed as the vice-chancellor (VC) at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet (SUST).
By the order of the president, who is chancellor of all universities in Bangladesh, a circular was issued in this regard on Wednesday.
Prof Farid, a former dean of Dhaka University's Faculty of Social Sciences, was first appointed as the SUST VC on August 21, 2017.
Farid Uddin Ahmed preivosuly worked as chief of the Bangladesh Federation of University Teachers' Associations, the organisation of teachers of public universities.
Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar University elect VCs by forming panels of candidates, but at SUST, the government makes the appointment in the absence of a senate.
