Police have detained four people over the alleged rape and murder of a 5-year old girl in Chandgaon police station area of Chittagong Sunday.
According to locals, informed of her daughter going missing, the mother of the child rushed home from the factory she works in.
She found the blood-stained body of her child lying under the bed of her own home, they said.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandgaon police station said the body has been recovered and samples have been collected by CID officials.
CID officials said they are suspecting the child was strangled to death after rape, after examining the injury marks on her body.
