Poachers attack on-duty forest guards in Sundarbans


The attackers snatch away three deer seized by the guards

Two forest guards in the Satkhira range of the Sundarbans have been hospitalized after they were attacked, while on duty, by a group of poachers.

Guards Raj Bara Islam Sajal and Abdul Aziz of Kathhershar patrol outpost at Kainmari Canal seized three deer and a boat belonging to the poachers during a drive on Monday.  

Sultan Ahmed, in-charge of Buri Goalini Station of the Forest Department, confirmed the development on Wednesday, reports Bangla Tribune.

“As they tried to nab the poachers, the latter attacked and seriously injured the forest guards. They were later taken to a local hospital,” he added.

A case was filed in this regard against Aminur Rahman, Yunus Gazi and Asad Rauf , all hailing from No 9 Sora village under Gabura union of Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira.
