In a freak accident, five workers sustained burn injuries when hot water from a boiler spilled on them at a factory in Savar on Thursday.
The injured are Hasan, 24, Anwar, 24, Swandip, 22, Rashedul, 22, and Wasim, 35.
Of them, Wasim sustained minor injuries while four others were admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Enam Medical College and Hospital, Operation Theatre (OT) In-Charge Nasir Uddin confirmed.
The accident took place at SDS Yarn Dyeing factory in the Kuturia area of Savar's Ashulia around 9:30pm on Thursday.
Seeking anonymity, one of the workers at the factory said the workers sustain burn injuries frequently in the same manner. However, the authorities did not take any action to solve the issues.
When contacted, SDS Yarn Dyeing factory In-Charge Shafiqul Islam said some workers received minor injuries and the factory authorities solved the issue.
Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia police station Kamruzzaman said that he was aware of the accident at the factory.
