A freelancer's hanging body was found in his residence in Rajshahi’s Hosenigonj area on Tuesday.
Police recovered the body of Anarul Islam Tutul, 35, after being informed by his family at around 11am.
Tutul might have committed suicide in the early hours of the day, said Boalia police station OC Nibaran Chandra Burman, adding that Tutul had talked to his wife at around 1am.
The body has been sent to Rajshahi Medical College for an autopsy.
“We have come to know that he was in a lot of debt,” the OC said.
“Before his death, Tutul posted a lengthy status on his Facebook account, in which he stated that he had made a lot of money by freelancing, but later became debt-ridden due to his illness,” said OC Nibaran.
Besides, Tutul in his social media post stated that he had become frustrated as he was not given the Tk17 lakh that was owed to him by the owner of an IT institute, added the police official.
“Tutul’s family has filed a case of unnatural death in this connection. More information will be available after we receive the autopsy report,” he said.
