Police have arrested two people for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur.
They were arrested during separate raids in the upazila on Tuesday, a day after the crime took place.
Police identified the arrestees as, Mofizur Rahman, 32, and Sharmin Akter, 26.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday, Boalmari police OC Nurul Alam said: “The girl has been sent to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur town for medical examination.”
Efforts were underway to arrest the others involved, he added.
On Tuesday morning, the rape survivor’s father had filed a case at Boalmari police station accusing five people.
According to the police and the girl’s family, the 14-year-old was going to her cousin’s house on Monday afternoon, when two youths lured her to a nearby jute field and took turns in violating her.
