Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday arrested four alleged members of banned outfit Ansar al-Islam from Azizia Markazul Ulum Madrasa located at Terokhada upazila here.
The arrestees are, Md Abir Mahmud Reza, 28, Md Abu Bakar Shikder, 20, Md Yousuf Ali, 21, and Ashraful Islam, 31.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB 3 from Dhaka conducted a drive in the madrasa and arrested them.
Later, they were handed over to Terokhada police station.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Terokhada police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mossarraf Hossain said: “A RAB 3 team from Dhaka arrested the four members of the banned militant group during the early hours of the morning Sunday.
“They then were handed over to the Terokhada police station. A case has been filed against them. RAB 3 Senior Warrant Officer (DAD) Humayun Kabir filed the case.”
“The four militants were produced before the court in the afternoon. They have been involved in anti-state activities for long,” the OC added.
