A man in Khulna has been arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA) for commenting on a Facebook post over a mobile court drive during the lockdown in the city.
Mizanur Rahman Mizan was arrested on Monday after an official of the local administration filed the case the previous day, said Sub-Inspector Saidur Rahman of the Kotwali police station.
"He was produced before a court, which sent him to jail. We are investigating the matter and will seek remand for the suspect later," said Rahman, the investigating officer of the case.
On April 7, a mobile court fined several shops and businesses for health safety protocol violations at Rupsha Ghat and Picture Palace areas amid the first round of a week-long lockdown following a resurgence of Covid-19 infections.
The 26-year-old posted an "objectionable comment" from his Facebook account over the drive, according to the case document.
Anup Kumar Roy, a staffer at the Khulna deputy commissioner's office, filed the case accusing Mizan of attempting to "destabilize the law and order situation by creating unrest" through his comments on a Facebook post.
