More than 8,000 people have been sued in connection with the attacks, vandalism, and arson during protests of Hefazat-e-Islam between Friday and Sunday in Brahmanbaria.
A total of seven cases have been filled at two police stations in this regard.
Brahmanbaria Sadar model police OC Abdur Rahim and Ashuganj police OC Jabed Mahmud confirmed the developments on Tuesday.
Toll plaza authorities of Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge in Ashuganj and police filed two separate at Ashuganj police station for an attack on the toll plaza. About 1,200 unnamed people were accused in these cases.
Meanwhile, five cases were filed with Brahmanbaria Sadar police – two were filed by the police over the attack on the SP office, one was filed by Ansar over an attack on Ansar and VDP camp, another was filed over the attack on a police outpost, and the fifth case was filed by the registrar of the University of Brahmanbaria.

Till Monday, police arrested 14 suspects in the three cases filed by police with Brahmanbaria Sadar police, confirmed Brahmanbaria Superintendent of Police (SP) Anisur Rahman.
On Friday, a group of Hefazat hardliners clashed with the police during protests against Indian Prime Minister Modi’s visit outside the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.
The same day, the Islamist group called a daylong general strike across the country for Sunday and announced a countrywide protest on Saturday for the deaths of its members during clashes in different districts.
The clashes soon spread like wildfire across the country, leaving hundreds of people injured and several dead. There was also significant damage to government and private property.
A total of 14 Hefazat men – 10 in Brahmanbaria and four in Chittagong – have died in the clashes with law enforcement personnel since Friday.
