30 injured as BNP activists clash with police in Kishoreganj

BNP’s district unit scheduled a rally at Rathkhola ground to protest against what they called police brutality on activists of Hefazat-e-Islam

At least 30 people were injured in a clash between supporters of BNP and police at Kishoreganj sadar upazila on Tuesday.

Police fired around 50 blank shots and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.

The clash erupted when Police and RAB barred a procession led by BNP’s district unit Organising Secretary Israil Miah and Kishoreganj municipality unit Convener Aminul Islam from heading towards Rathkhola ground, venue of a scheduled rally.

At least three policemen, including the officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj Sadar police station, were injured in the clash.

BNP leaders claimed that around 30 of their activists were also injured.

Earlier, BNP’s district unit scheduled a rally at Rathkhola ground to protest against what they called police brutality on activists of Hefazat-e-Islam and arson attacks on two BNP offices in Kishoreganj town.
