Police have arrested four men in a case for torturing a woman and her daughter by tying them down with bamboo stumps in Chuadanga's Alamdanga upazila. Alamdanga police station Officer-in-Charge Akram Hossain told Dhaka Tribune that they had arrested the four accused from Jomajomi Bazar area at around 8pm on Sunday. The arrestees are Mister Ali, Harun-ur-Rashid, Hanger Ali and Rasul Biswas. All of them hail from Ghoshbila village of the upazila. Hearing screams, other neighbours went to the scene and rescued the victims. OC Akram Hossain said during primary interrogation, the arrestees had admitted that they were involved in the torture of the two victims. A total of 11 people have been accused in the case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. A Chuadanga court had already sent the four arrestees to jail and the police members were trying to arrest the rest of the accused, added the OC.
